Project ARCHER is the development of the next generation self-propelled artillery system. The concept was referred to as '155 mm haub 77BD', '155 mm FH 77BW' and/or 'REMO 77B' in earlier Swedish studies.
After the technical studies, feasibility studies and the product definition phase, the project is now in the development phase. During the feasibility phrase, two test guns were manufactured according to the ARCHER System. The test guns were assessed in the test and trial phase as an ending of the feasibility study. The results and experiences gained from the study, served as a basis for the product definition phase. According to the current time plan, series manufactured ARCHER will be delivered to the Swedish Armed Forces in 2009. The Swedish Armed Forces intends to set up ARCHER battallions ready for duty in 2011.
Denmark, Australia, Canada, India and other countries have expressed an interest in ARCHER and requested more information from BAE Systems Bofors AB.
