VoV Sjö, FMV’s unit for verification and validation of naval systems, is located in Karlskrona (400 km south of Stockholm).
The main tasks of VoV Sjö are:

  • requirement management
  • planning of verification and validation
  • monitoring of the verification process
  • management of validation
  • test management

History of naval activity in Karlskrona

Naval activity in Karlskrona started when the Navy base and the shipyard was established during the period 1670–1680. By the time the Visby corvette was launched in the year 2000, the shipyard had built 454 ships. So, ships have been verified and validated for a long time in Karlskrona.

The process is clarified by the following sketch:

  • modification of mine hunting vessels
  • modification of corvettes

  • modification of submarines
