Verification and validation of naval systems
VoV Sjö, FMV’s unit for verification and validation of naval systems, is located in Karlskrona (400 km south of Stockholm).
The main tasks of VoV Sjö are:
- requirement management
- planning of verification and validation
- monitoring of the verification process
- management of validation
- test management
History of naval activity in Karlskrona
Naval activity in Karlskrona started when the Navy base and the shipyard was established during the period 1670–1680. By the time the Visby corvette was launched in the year 2000, the shipyard had built 454 ships. So, ships have been verified and validated for a long time in Karlskrona.

Ongoing activities
Currently, the unit’s main task is to support the Visby project (five new corvettes with stealth characteristics are being built for the Royal Swedish Navy). Apart from the Visby project, VoV Sjö is engaged in a variety of naval projects:
- modification of mine hunting vessels
- modification of corvettes
- integration of helicopters on ships
- modification of submarines
