The vehicles will be delivered between 2011-2013. The decision FMV has taken today are conditioned that the Swedish government takes a decision before the agreement can take effect.

In 2008, on behalf of the Swedish Armed Forces, FMV conducted a market survey to examine whether existing vehicles on the market could solve the Armed Forces need for modern armoured wheeled vehicles. This study was the basis for the decision to conduct a competitive procurement. After the tender FMV has conducted evaluations, tests and negotiations which led to today's decision.

“From the project side, we are very satisfied with the tenders that the bidders have presented during the process. After a comprehensive evaluation of test results, performance, economy etc, we are convinced that we have reached the best decision based on the operational requirements the Swedish Armed Forces has set," says Peter Elmlund, FMVs project manager for the contract.

Patria AMV has been in the series since 2004. To this date, approximately 1200 vehicle has been ordered by other customers. Patria AMV is used operationally in Finland, Poland, Slovenia and Croatia, for example in operations in Afghanistan.

AMV is a modern fortified eight wheeled vehicles with high levels of protection, mobility and accessibility. Max combat weight is 27 tons with a payload of up to 11 tons. The vehicle has a large internal space for the driver, gunner, head coach and up to nine soldiers.

The vehicle has a modular structure in which different versions / roles can be created from different platforms. Together with modules for protection, weapons and role-specific equipment it gives the AMV a high degree of flexibility.
