The Swedish Defence Materiel Administration – FMV – arranges the Sensors Symposium in Stockholm, 12-13 September 2012 in co-operation with the Swedish Armed Forces – SwAF. The objective being to raise the competence of the armed forces' and defence organisations' personnel regarding our sensor systems and the information they generate.
Soldiers/sailors/airmen in operations are constantly flooded with information from sensors and co-operating military units. This information contributes to information superiority and intelligence gathering coupled to networks, both national and international.
This complex environment and how the information flow is handled is the focus of this year's event.
The Symposium is organized biennially by the C3I Systems Procurement Command.
Programme
Program Sensorsymposium- updated 2012-09-11
Sensors Symposium 2012 is devoted to the information flow in our systems. It will cover areas dealing with sensor generated information, where and how the information is processed and how it is transmitted to operators, robotic systems or into our tactical command and control systems. Of special importance are the operational needs with emphasis on user requirements. The civilian security sector will also be covered.
Field experiences from finished or ongoing operations are of paramount importance for the development of future systems.
In the past years Sweden has gathered experiences from several international missions in all three arenas; ground operations in Afghanistan, blue water naval operations in the Gulf of Aden and air operations in Libya.
Of particular interest is the relationship between ISR capability and the requirements of international law, as applied to Sweden's participation in international missions.
The two symposium days will address:
User's perspective with lessons learned, needs and requirements;Today's technical solutions in order to meet military short term needs; Ongoing research and development investments aiming at fulfilling mid term needs; andA look into possible future system solutions.
The presentations will be held in either Swedish or English.
In connection with the seminars an exhibition will arranged.
