Foreign military sales

Foreign Military Sales (FMS) is a term used when countries purchases defence equipment directly from the U.S. government. In Sweden it is FMV which is responsible for the business.

FMS acquisition is surrounded by rules and procedures issued by the U.S. government. It also implies special obligations for the contracting country.

The Swedish Embassy in Washington thus represents Sweden as a contracting country, and signs all agreements. FMV is the interface to the FMS operations.
