Defence export

FMV:s mission is to support defence export that will help maintain and develop industrial capabilities which are of strategic importance for the Swedish defence.

This means that the engagements should be linked to the Swedish military's long-term supply of equipment. A requirement for support is that there are clearly identified benefits to the Swedish defence.

The needs for equipment of the Swedish Armed Forces are not sufficient to maintain a competitive Swedish defence industry. Exports and cooperation are required to create prerequisites for maintenance of defence industrial competence in Sweden. More intensive international exchange helps us to safeguard skills that are adapted to Swedish needs.

A prerequisite for FMV's work is that there is a preliminary permit from the Swedish Agency for Non-Proliferation and Export Controls (ISP), which is the government approval body for all defence export to a country of a given Product.

FMV are engaged in the support of Swedish defence export in two ways, by being appointed to be the government representative in government-to-government defence export and by handling support requests from the industry, where they can request support from the government in different defence related export issues.
